Emergency financial assistance
Our emergency financial assistance program, called the Emergency Fund, provides critical financial assistance to people who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness or another serious emergency. We quickly provide payments on a person’s behalf for things like rent, utilities, or transportation.
The Coordinated Entry System (CES) connects homeless people with housing opportunities in Chicago. CES uses a standardized housing assessment to understand household needs and follows a prioritization plan to recommend housing to youth, individuals, and families. Screening is available to all eligible individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, familial status, disability, actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status
Rapid Rehousing Program
All Chicago administers the Rapid Rehousing Program to provide rent and utility assistance to people who are homeless, living in shelters or on the streets. We are partner agencies working to provide case management services to help Rapid Re-Housing clients remain stable in their new homes. We assist approximately 350 homes each year.
If you need help, call 3-1-1 or 312-744-5000 for short-term assistance.
HOUSING ASSESSMENTS: Anyone who needs housing, because they are fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, human trafficking, stalking, or sexual assault, can complete a housing assessment by calling the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline at 877.863.6338 (or 877.863.6339 TTY) and request a “Coordinated Entry Assessment.” Please note that this may or may not lead to a housing option and does not resolve your immediate housing crisis.
